Meet Dr. Kathryn Starr
Dr. Starr is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University and its Resident & Faculty Wellness Program. She is licensed in California and Oregon.
She received her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, medical degree at Case Western Reserve University, and completed Psychiatry residency at Yale University. She has had over 13 years of clinical experience in outpatient mental health.
Dr. Starr specializes in physician and professional wellness and executive coaching to address burnout and support leader well-being. She also has expertise working in women's mental health at every stage of life and veteran's mental health including trauma.
Her services include medication management, psychotherapy, professional coaching, and peer supervision. Currently, her services are virtual and private pay to ensure a streamlined practice that prioritizes confidentiality and access to care without bureaucratic burden.

Starr Psychiatry prioritizes client confidentiality and strictly adheres to HIPAA requirements.
All assessments and ongoing treatments occur through an easy-to-use online video platform.
Billing is supported using Ivy Pay, a HIPAA-compliant payment platform directly through clients' smart phones. Ivy accepts all major US credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards.
Starr Psychiatry is private pay only and does not bill insurance, which eliminates unwanted headaches of prior and ongoing authorizations, so clients and Dr. Starr can focus on their work together.
Starr Psychiatry utilizes Reimbursify, a confidential and HIPAA-compliant service, to submit claims on your behalf if you have an eligible insurance benefit for out-of-network reimbursement.
Alternatively, if requested, Dr. Starr can provide an electronic invoice outside of Reimbursify for you to independently submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement.
Starr Psychiatry utilizes electronic prescribing for all medications.

Psychotherapy: Evidence-based therapy techniques to help you understand and manage your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Starr Psychiatry provides individual, couples, and family counseling depending on the patient's clinical needs and preferences.
Professional Coaching: Assessing and building upon clients' workstyles, coping strategies, strengths, and opportunities to improve their overall performance and leadership.
Peer Supervision: Assisting other physicians and other clinicians with the complexities and process of providing mental health treatment.
Out-of-Network Reimbursement
Out-of-Network Reimbursement
Eligible Insurances: Many insured patients have an out-of-network benefit which allows them to be reimbursed for out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as those from Starr Psychiatry. Typically these eligible insurance plans will be a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO).
Typical Reimbursement Rates: Standard PPO plans will generally reimburse about 70% of eligible expenses, though some budget or high-deductible plans might only reimburse around 50% of costs. Sometimes patients must first meet an out-of-network deductible before insurance will start reimbursing additional expenses.

She will respond to you promptly within 1-2 business days and, if she is able to take you on as a client, will provide additional information about her practice, scheduling, billing, and moving forward.
